Every installation of the BSD Online Tools includes Expression Engine, a versatile database-driven content management system from Ellis Labs. This powerful visual tool is fully integrated with the rest of our tools, making it easy for your team to design, build, and manage a complex Web site with a minimum of effort.

Almost all of the sites we build are deployed using Expression Engine -- including the site you're looking at right now.

Power, performance, and simplicity in a single package

Thousands of individuals, organizations, and companies around the world use Expression Engine to easily manage Web content, including sites running into the hundreds or even thousands of pages. The graphical user interface makes Web site development a point-and-click experience. We'll help you design and build page templates that don't require any Web knowledge to use, so that anyone in your organization who can use software like Microsoft Word can quickly start building and editing structured Web pages.

But ease of use doesn't mean our tools aren't feature-rich. If you never want to touch a line of HTML or CSS, you don't have to. But for expert users, or those who have more complex scripted functionality in mind, anything that's supported in a Web page can be implemented via the BSD content tools -- video, animation, Flash, and all the supported scripting languages.

We developed the BSD Online Tools with Expression Engine content management in mind. You can use your existing content management system alongside the BSD tools, but if you're starting from scratch, you'll appreciate everything we've done to integrate our content manager with the rest of the BSD Online Tools.

Extensible with templates and modules

Use the built-in page templates, or set up your own.  Using the templating system, you can control all aspects of your site's page layout via efficient, easy-to-manage templates, groups, and wrappers.  Dozens of functionality extension modules are available -- with just a few clicks, add photo gallery functionality, wiki pages, and much, much more. And a built-in simple scripting language helps you handle conditional content and versioning quickly and efficiently.

Powerful built-in publishing features

Our content management system is suitable for a wide range of publishing applications, including staging (preparing pages in advance of their scheduled release time), integrated page tagging (which can be used in automated navigation), and community-driven content via a full-featured automatic user comment handler.
